Brazil ANATEL Updates Technical Requirements and Test Procedures for Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment

The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) has published Ato N° 14.158 on October 1, 2025, introducing important updates to Brazil’s regulatory framework for restricted radiation radiocommunication equipment.

This new act amends:

  • Ato N° 14.448/2017, which sets the technical requirements for conformity assessment, and

  • Ato N° 237/2022, which defines the test procedures for conformity assessment.

The updates specifically cover requirements for:

  • Devices operating in millimeter-wave bands

  • Wireless access systems operating in the 5.150 to 5.350 MHz band

  • Audio, video, and other application transmission systems

  • Broadband wireless access systems for local area networks

Key Dates:

  • The updates are currently in effect.

  • Compliance will become mandatory starting 6 April 2026.

Manufacturers, importers, and testing laboratories are advised to review the updated requirements carefully to ensure conformity with ANATEL’s technical and testing standards.

For businesses operating in Brazil, these updates may require adjustments in testing procedures, equipment design, and documentation prior to market release. Staying informed will help avoid delays in certification and ensure smooth market entry.
