CRA Updates Qatar National Frequency Allocation Plan

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has released an updated Qatar National Frequency Allocation Plan (QNFAP), reflecting the latest developments in the ICT and radiocommunication sectors. The update incorporates outcomes from the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC‑23) and insights gathered through a broad public consultation involving national, regional, and international stakeholders. This collaborative approach helped align the plan with global best practices and current technological standards.

As Qatar’s official regulatory framework for radio spectrum management, QNFAP defines how this limited national resource is allocated and used. It includes the National Frequency Allocation Table (NFAT), which assigns frequency bands to various radiocommunication services. These allocations support key sectors such as ICT, aviation, maritime, security, and energy, ensuring efficient and compliant use of spectrum resources in line with international regulations.

CRA President Eng. Ahmad bin Abdulla AlMuslemani emphasized that the updated QNFAP underscores the Authority’s commitment to international best practices and supports Qatar’s strategic priorities in the ICT sector. He noted that the plan strengthens the telecommunications ecosystem and contributes to the country’s digital transformation goals under Qatar National Vision 2030.

He added that the enhanced QNFAP is the result of comprehensive technical and regulatory analysis, ensuring the sustainable and future‑ready management of radio spectrum and reinforcing Qatar’s preparedness to adopt emerging technologies.
