Honduras’ telecommunications regulator, CONATEL, has adopted Resolution NR003/26, introducing major amendments to the National Frequency Allocation Plan (PNAF). The changes support the deployment of private IMT networks, satellite mobile services, next-generation Wi-Fi technologies, and enhanced spectrum utilization across the country.
Key updates include the authorization of private IMT (4G/5G) networks within the 2500-2690 MHz band, the introduction of Mobile Satellite Service allocations in the 1980-2010 MHz and 2170-2200 MHz frequency ranges, and the expansion of licence-exempt WAS/RLAN operations from 5925-6425 MHz to 5925-7125 MHz, enabling broader Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 deployments.
CONATEL also updated several mobile and satellite spectrum allocations and introduced provisions for evaluating non-geostationary satellite (NGSO) systems using performance-based protection criteria. These measures aim to promote innovation, improve connectivity, and support the growing demand for advanced wireless and satellite communications services in Honduras.
