Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Launches the Self‑Declaration of Conformity Service under the Type Approval System

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Oman has announced the launch of its new Self‑Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) service as part of the national Type Approval System, marking a significant step in modernizing the regulatory framework governing telecommunications equipment in the Sultanate. This initiative reflects Oman’s continued commitment to accelerating approval procedures, adopting modern regulatory tools, and improving the efficiency of services delivered to consumers and industry stakeholders.

The newly introduced service streamlines type approval by allowing applicants to submit an official declaration confirming that their devices comply with Oman’s approved technical and regulatory standards, without the need to attach prior technical test reports. This simplifies the overall process, shortens the approval timeline, and facilitates faster market entry for compliant devices, reducing administrative burdens on manufacturers and importers operating in Oman.

To use the service, applicants must submit a device approval request through the Authority’s electronic platform, attach the official conformity declaration, and assume full legal responsibility for the accuracy and authenticity of the information provided. They must also commit to withdrawing the device from Oman’s market if it is later found to be non‑compliant, thus ensuring accountability and maintaining consumer protection within the Sultanate.

The introduction of the Self‑Declaration of Conformity service aligns closely with Oman’s strategic vision of simplifying regulatory procedures, improving oversight efficiency, and balancing the facilitation of compliant device entry with robust regulatory governance. By adopting this streamlined approval mechanism, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Oman supports a modern, dynamic regulatory environment that keeps pace with the rapid technological developments occurring across the global telecommunications industry.
