PTA Pakistan Approves Wi-Fi 7 in 6 GHz Band, Accelerating Pakistan’s Digital Future

On 26 September 2025, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) approved the use of Wi-Fi 7 and future Wi-Fi generations in the 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz), expanding on the regulatory framework earlier established for Wi-Fi 6E. This milestone places Pakistan among the first adopters in the Asia-Pacific region and reinforces the nation’s commitment to digital transformation and technological leadership.

Wi-Fi 7 introduces ultra-high data rates, ultra-low latency, and exceptional reliability, unlocking opportunities for 8K streaming, immersive AR/VR, industrial automation, advanced healthcare, and smart city development. By reducing congestion in traditional frequency bands and lowering broadband distribution costs, it promises stronger, more efficient connectivity for households, SMEs, campuses, and public institutions.

This landmark decision highlights PTA’s dedication to bridging the digital divide, strengthening network resilience, and fostering inclusive economic growth. With the approval of Wi-Fi 7, Pakistan takes a decisive step toward building a robust digital ecosystem ready to embrace the next era of global connectivity.
